Second Chance Offer?

Filed under: brief, ebay — xcaper @ 2:49 pm

How long do you wait to get paid for an item on eBay? I sold an item on Thursday night and still have yet to receive payment for it. Do you give them a few days, a week, over a week? I really don’t want to have to take away the item from the guy and send a Second Chance Offer out if he just doesn’t have access to a computer right now but I really need the money from the auction. I’ve already sent him an invoice and sent him a message through eBay. What do you guys do when you have an eBayer who doesn’t pay right away?

  1. Well, when I have someone that doesn’t pay on an auction, their account tends to be new.. so I figure they aren’t going to pay. One way that I’ve sort of “scared” people into either sending money or backing out somehow is to request their contact information. Once the auction is completed, you can ask eBay to send you their information. They are also given your information, but they know you’re looking for them. Something personal such as a phone number tends to get someone to pay rather quickly.

I generally give items about a week before I file a Second Chance Offer. 6-7 days is long enough for someone to pay, and that’s what eBay requires. It would stink if he didn’t have computer access, but the Second Chance Offer might run out if you wait too long either.

    Good luck, though!
